Electrical SAP
1st Step solutions (M&E/Building Services Recruitment Specialists) are currently recruiting for an Electrical SAP (Senior Appointed Person).
You will be working for one of the UK's leading M&E/Building Services Contractors, with office locations across the Country. The business work across the Defence, Education, Justice, Commercial & Infrastructure sectors, employs over 200 staff with a £90m annual turnover.
Location: Across the South West & Wales
Employment: Freelance to Permanent
(Ideally the Employer would like to offer the role on a freelance basis but moving to a permanent position. Should you prefer to be engaged in a permanent capacity from the outset this would be open to discussion.)
Normal working week: 43hrs p/w
Salary: Circa £57k p/a
Pay Rates (JIB Technician's 2025 Rates)
◦ M-F (up to 37.5hrs): £24.16p/hr
◦ M-F (after 37.5hrs) & Saturday (1st 6hrs): £36.24p/hr
◦ Saturday (afternoon) & Sunday: £48.32p/hr
What you'll be doing day to day
◦ The Senior Appointed Person will hold the responsibility for being the appointed NICEIC qualified supervisor within the region.
◦ Will be responsible for the implementation of the project test packs.
◦ Monitoring and sample QA testing of installation works to ensure compliance with NICEIC requirements.
◦ Will provide support and input into the development of the sites safe systems of work, and particularly the three key stage electrical safety reviews.
◦ Will attend site monthly to undertake a review of the site to undertake audits to ensure the electrical safety team are compliant with the code of practice for safe works on low voltage electrical systems, from project commencement. The SAP will complete two documents; SMSF 214j code of practice for safe working on low voltage electrical systems audit & SMSF 214m SAP compliance audit document, which both must also be copied to the electrical code of practice administrator & the company H&S Manager.
◦ Responsible for ensuring all test equipment within the region is maintained fit for purpose and within calibration.
◦ Responsible for reviewing new test equipment & electrical safety devices for potential future use by testers.
◦ When requested will also provide support in the initial appointment of appointed persons and testers.
Qualifications required for this role:
◦ JIB/ECS Approved Electrician, Technician or Managers Card (Black or Gold)
◦ Testing & Inspection
◦ 18th Edition
◦ Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
