Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and other additional needs.
* Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and ensure they meet the individual needs of students while following the curriculum.
* Support students both academically and personally, helping them build confidence, independence, and social skills.
* Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive, supportive learning environment.
* Step in to assist classroom activities when teachers are unavailable, ensuring continuity in learning.
* Work closely with SENCO and other staff members to ensure all students’ needs are met.
Job Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant
To succeed in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
* CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (preferred but not required).
* A degree in Education, Psychology, or a relevant field is advantageous.
* Prior experience working with children in an SEN environment or as a SEN Teaching Assistant is essential.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and nurturing approach.
* Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students and provide them with tailored support.
