Working alongside multi-disciplined teams and colleagues within Digital Policing, the Server and Storage Engineer participates in the delivery of a performant, cost effective and appropriately resilient Server, Backup and Storage environment, that meets the agreed service level for critical business functions. For further information, and to support your application, please view the job description What you’ll do Install, upgrade, configure and document new Server, Storage and Backup systems as planned and to the correct standards. Provide 2nd/3rd Line support of Server, Storage and Backup services, liaising with internal and external groups, manufacturers and suppliers as required to maintain system functionality, reliability and availability. Participate in evaluating opportunities for greater efficiency and optimisation within Server, Storage and Backup infrastructure to drive down costs of these services. Identify potential problems and trends within Server, Storage and Backup environments and implement proactive strategies to reduce service affecting issues. Provide Root Cause analysis of service affecting issues to prevent repeat occurrences. What you’ll bring A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role supporting Enterprise level Servers within an Active Directory Domain. Demonstrable experience of building and deploying Windows Server 2012/2016 within a Datacentre environment. Demonstrable experience of troubleshooting day to day issues within an Enterprise Client/Server Infrastructure. Strong Experience of Planning and Upgrading Servers and hardware within a Datacentre environment. Strong Experience of Active Directory including GPO configuration & troubleshooting. Strong Experience of TCP\DNS\DHCP and general Networking concepts. Ideally you will have experience working with Enterprise backup and/or Storage products. Ideally you will have experience with scripting tools (PowerShell, VBScript). Ideally you will have a practicable working knowledge of administering, configuring and troubleshooting RHEL/SUSE. Ideally you will have a practicable working knowledge of ITSM products (SCCM/SCOM preferred). Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of VMWare (ESX, VCenter, VDI), however training will be provided if required.
