We are looking for a committed professional with experience in managing transport operations to join our team as a Transport Manager. In this crucial role, you will ensure the seamless operation of our fleet by driving cost efficiency, maintaining compliance, and fostering continuous improvement, all while enhancing customer satisfaction through reliable and timely deliveries. Key responsibilities include:
* Managing Fleet Utilisation & Operational Efficiency: Oversee the full utilisation of our transport fleet, ensuring that vehicles are deployed effectively across all depots and minimising downtime.
* Leading the Transport Team: Manage and support our Transport team of drivers and fleet staff, promoting a culture of excellence and customer-focused service.
* Maintenance of our Fleet & Compliance: Ensure our fleet is compliant with all regulatory standards, including servicing, MOTs, and safety inspections. Maintain vehicle readiness and regulatory compliance across the fleet.
* Cost Control & Budget Management: Manage budgets and track key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining operational efficiency.
* Operational Planning & Coordination: Work closely with our depot managers and other departments to ensure transport resources meet business requirements, ensuring timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
* Resolve Issues & Foster Continuous Improvement: Tackle operational challenges and pinpoint areas for enhancement. Lead initiatives to drive positive change, improving service delivery and overall operational performance.
* Reporting & Analysis: Track fleet performance metrics and produce regular reports to help guide decision-making and business strategy.
Proven experience in leading and managing a transport team, with a successful history of overseeing fleet operations and driving ongoing improvements.
* In-depth knowledge of fleet management, maintenance, and compliance regulations (e.g., DVSA, Operator Licenses).
* Expert at quickly resolving issues while minimising disruption to operations.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams, customers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
* Driven by a commitment to identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational enhancements.
* Focused on improving the efficiency and reliability of transport services, directly enhancing the customer experience.
