Job Purpose: Microbiological Technologist reporting to the Team Manager of the relevant unit and responsible for performing a wide range of biologically related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work as a flexible and motivated member of the team.
2. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or Standards of Work (SW) applicable and in which the individual has been trained.
3. Act in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and report any quality issues.
4. Ensure safety compliance as per the Health & Safety at Work Act and relevant legislation.
5. Remain up to date with all training requirements.
6. Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities.
7. Engage in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) processes.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
1. Be multi-skilled and demonstrate a level of specialism in a minimum of the disciplines listed below, employing high standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
2. Be knowledgeable in regulatory requirements associated with their specialism area.
3. Work without direct supervision in their area of specialism.
4. Develop methodology for new or modified techniques and prepare written SOPs/Methods.
5. Train junior staff as specified by the Team Manager.
6. Create documentation, methods, procedures, protocols, and reports to agreed targets.
7. Support investigations/projects within their specialism.
8. Participate/represent the department on major site projects.
9. Prepare and publish reports/analyse monitoring data as directed by the Team Manager.
10. Liaise efficiently with Production/Quality Assurance (QA) and other corporate groups.
11. Support audit readiness activities.
12. Support routine monitoring programmes within their areas of specialism.
13. Provide active support to Team Manager during regulatory inspection.
Minimum Level of Education Required: Minimum GCSE or Equivalent in Mathematics and English
Preferred Level of Education: A level or Equivalent in Science
Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required: Preferred demonstrated role at 1 previous employer
Related Experience: Demonstrate knowledge in at least one area of Pharmaceutical Microbiology (e.g., Environmental Monitoring, Finished Product Testing, Sterilisation, etc.). Detailed understanding of the GSK Quality Management System and relevant legislation. Effective organisation, communication, presentation, and influencing skills. IT Skills.
