West Berkshire Council are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to work within our busy Asset Management team.
Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of asset management activities within the Transport and Countryside service, specifically the delivery of all aspects of street lighting and illuminated sign maintenance including asset replacement/renewal, electrical supplies, and asset management.
In helping to maintain over 15,000 street lighting assets, you would be assisting with a wide range of reactive and proactive tasks including:
1. Managing enquires from the public from submission through to completion.
2. Monitoring the status of lighting assets using a Central Management System and using the information to issue works instructions to the contractor.
3. Maintaining an up to date and accurate lighting inventory using an asset management system.
4. Assisting in the creation and delivery of programmes of work to ensure the Councils lighting stock remains at a safe and high standard.
5. Checking works for quality and compliance with technical standards and agreeing sums for payment of the work.
6. Managing and responding to correspondence.
7. Ensuring that all works are carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety policies and good practice.
You should have experience in delivering street lighting maintenance and improvement works, ideally through a term contract arrangement, and you will also need a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle in order to fulfil this role.
