Work is typically performed during standard business hours, but evening and/or weekend work flexibility is needed for programs and events. Must be, on occasion, willing to travel in support of programs related to the primary job purpose and be willing to work occasionally outside standard business hours, including weekends. Occasional travel will also be required.
Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
The Associate Director of Student Affairs reports to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Organizations. The Associate Director for Student Affairs is responsible for providing direction, management, and leadership of the student group’s community outreach and activities and providing fiscal direction to those student groups and the department. The Associate Director is expected to apply the University of the Pacific’s Mission, Vision, and Values to prepare students for lifelong success in health careers by providing an excellent, student-centered learning environment.
Essential Functions
* Oversee day-to-day operations and financial strategic plans for Student Affairs and professional student organizations to:
o Establish the direction, goals, implementation strategy, and policies of the department in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
o Accountable for the allocation of department and agency budgets.
o Translates strategic and tactical business plans into student operational plans. Has latitude to make operational decisions within broadly defined parameters and decisions requiring a high level of judgment.
o Directs the student fee assessment and implementation.
o Directs and supervises department student workers.
o Supports the success of co-curricular and OASIS programming, related event planning, and group collaboration.
o Oversees and coordinates a range of other special projects that may include projects related to scholarship, orientation, and other student-related events and ceremonies as they arise to support the position’s objectives.
o Participates in all accreditation and regulatory processes.
o Serves on committees as assigned.
* Supports large student-wide event programming relating to professional program milestones:
o Responsible for the coordination and implementation of new student orientation of the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
o Directs the Pharmacy scholarship process and is responsible for the allocation of funds.
o Develops and maintains the program student calendar.
o Oversees the provision of information and counseling regarding career opportunities.
o Supports the success of co-curricular and OASIS programming and event planning, as well as group collaboration.
o Assess employment recruiting models and revise and refine new employment recruiting strategies in collaboration with employment stakeholders. Direct the implementation of the revised and refined recruiting strategies.
o Designee of the Associate Dean to internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide guidance and leadership to students in professional development and leadership:
o Serves as Co-Advisor to the Pharmacy Senior Class and the Association of Student Pharmacists.
o Provides guidance to students and student groups on fiscal responsibilities to improve and support success.
o Assists in the mediation, mentoring, and coaching of individual pharmacy students regarding professionalism and conduct issues.
o Oversees the referral of students, as needed, to appropriate resources for counseling or support.
o Ensuring that student complaints are adequately addressed and documented in accordance with University policies and procedures.
o Assist in promoting strategies for maintaining a safe campus environment.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree. (Two (2) years of full-time experience in the same/similar position is equal to one (1) year of completed post-high school education coursework).
* Five (5) years of experience working in higher education administration or with higher education institutions, public and/or private.
* Five (5) years of experience in budget maintenance, monitoring, and analysis or accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with students in higher education or in a college/university environment.
* Understanding of or experience with the pharmacy profession and/or the pharmacy industry.
* Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, alumni, professional organizations, and leaders within the industry.
* Ability to exercise judgment and discretion with respect to matters related to essential functions and the primary purpose of the position.
* Experience developing partnerships with vendors and the community.
* Experience with student organizations and organization governance policy and procedures.
* Evidence of strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to multitask.
* Evidence of ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and problem solve; can work well independently and in team-based settings.
* Possess exceptional attention to detail, strong communication, and excellent interpersonal skills.
* Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
* Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range
Hiring Range: $66,560.00 per year to $80,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
