We are looking for a deputy manager to join our exciting nursery, located on the grounds of our Fernlea Care Home.
We are a successful family-owned and managed enterprise who have operated care homes in and around Manchester for the past 30 years. Over the years, it became evident to us, through links with local schools and nurseries, that there are significant benefits to interaction between the elderly and young children for both groups. On this basis, we committed to developing ‘Fernbees’, our first 30-place day nursery on the grounds of our flagship service, Fernlea with a dedicated focus on intergenerational activity.
As a deputy at Fernbees, you will have exciting opportunities to work alongside our manager and business team to design a brand-new service while forming part of a successful organisation which holds Investors in People Gold award and has developed a reputation for being committed to our staff.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, committed to providing high-quality childcare, and willing to embrace new challenges. An ideal candidate should be an effective communicator with both children and parents, and have a sufficient understanding and capability to deliver the highest standards in childcare, including an understanding of safeguarding, the EYFS, and pediatric first aid. An ideal candidate must have at least Level 3 in Early Years Childcare and Education (or equivalent) and two years’ experience working with children.
The Deputy manager will work in partnership with the Manager and is responsible for the effective leadership of the nursery team, providing training, coaching and mentoring whilst supporting team members to ensure a high standard of service.

* At least Level 3 in Early Years Childcare and Education (or equivalent) and 2 years’ experience working with children.

Essential Experience:
* Working in collaboration with colleagues in achieving positive working relationships through effective communication leadership and guidance and the support of all members of the nursery team.
* A strong record of ongoing training and/or professional qualifications since qualifying.
* Proven experience of working in early years education settings with successful management leading to ‘Good or Outstanding’ regulatory inspection outcomes.
* The ability to work as part of a team to ensure essential day-to-day tasks are completed in line with nursery policies.
* Relevant training linked to food hygiene and management.
* Experience of providing support and leadership to a staff team to enable staff in fulfilling their roles, responsibilities and legislative duty in relation to safeguarding children.
* Current 12hrs Pediatric First Aid Certificate.
Experience Desirable:
* Experience of efficient staff deployment and managing staff rotas.
* Knowledge of Local Authority and Regulatory requirements and inspection processes.
Qualifications:
* Full and relevant Level 3 qualification (essential).
* 12 hours pediatric first aid and first aid at work (essential).
* Level 2 Food Hygiene or equivalent training.
* Relevant safeguarding/child protection training undertaken and a willingness to update training regularly (essential).
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Undergraduate or Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies or other relevant subject (Desirable).
* EYPP/EYTT or QTS post graduate status (Desirable).
* Full, clean driving license.

* Able to communicate clearly with adults and children using a variety of techniques (verbally and written).
* Ability to lead and inspire nursery colleagues to achieve the highest standards of care and education.
