Description Job Summary: To effectively supervise and maintain the efficient running of the day-to-day Driver and Warehouse operations. Responsible to: Depot Manager Skills/Knowledge and Experience: · Basic understanding of planning and organisation. · A well-developed attention to detail. · Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes. · Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages (Excel, Word) and a knowledge or ability to work with in-house bespoke software. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Experience of supervising and leading a team. · Understanding of Health and Safety in a Warehouse environment. · Knowledge of the distribution/parcel or logistics industry. · Customer service experience, understanding the difference between good and great service. · Previous experience relating to transport, including regulations and legislation. · Knowledge of the geographical area and delivery postcodes of the Edinburgh depot. · Valid FLT Counterbalance Licence (internal training will be provided in the absence of this). Main Responsibilities: · To supervise the operation of the depot, ensuring the morning and/or the evening parcel sort routine is accomplished effectively, efficiently and to a high standard. · To act as member of the depot management team, including line management of the Drivers, and Warehouse teams, with shared responsibility to inspire and lead the team. · In the AM Operation you will deliver the route planning of scheduled deliveries taking into account relevant timeframes, post-code groupings, vehicle weight restrictions and customer collections. · In the PM Operation you will ensure that all collections are issued to the correct routes, and completed effectively within the time scales. · Issue training to the driver and warehouse teams as required, i.e. when SOP’s are updated or issued, systems training, and any new starter inductions including employed and agency/sub-contractor. · Monitor and track KPI’s relevant to the driver and warehouse group, ensuring that any actions needed are taken and followed up on. · Ensure full compliance with transport and maintenance schedules including planned and adhoc/unplanned matters i.e. breakdowns/accidents. · Complete and investigate any internal matters as required i.e. accident investigation, employee matters, or security matters. · Complete all driver and warehouse reports accurately and on time. · Work closely with the team to ensure that Health and Safety is maintained as a priority in all tasks. · Ensure the warehouse is clear and tidy at all times. · To carry out stock and inventory control. · To load and unload various size vehicles with forklift trucks. · Act as a key holder for the depot, which will include opening up and locking up of the depot on your relevant shift. Hours of work: 40 Other Information: These role holders act as a cover for the Depot Manager, and so additional tasks may be required to ensure full coverage of the depot.
