General Practice Assistants are a key role in General Practice. They are able to support practices by:
* Improving patient access and releasing highly qualified staff to concentrate on treating and managing patients with more complex conditions,
* Improving patient flow within surgery hours, increasing the time efficiency of appointments, and reduction of waiting times;
* Reducing time spent by GPs on managing correspondence.
Main duties of the job
* AGP Assistant must also meet the following criteria:
* Hold or be prepared to attain a GP Assistant Certificate qualification.
* Be willing to participate in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
* Take responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
* Attend all relevant annual training updates.
* Inform their line manager of any concerns regarding GPA role and any professional development needed.
* Be aware of own professional boundaries and what to do when you have reached them.
About us
Trinity Health Group PCN has employed an exceptional Outreach Team which currently consists of a Practice Nurse, Care Coordinator and support from a Health & Wellbeing Coach. The Outreach Team works closely with all member practices to deliver LTC reviews to patients that are housebound and in Care Homes. Additionally, we deliver targeted support to reduce Health Inequalities within the PCN. This includes setting up pop-up clinics in areas of social deprivation, traveller sites and working with community/religious groups making our services more accessible for patients.
