We are now recruiting for a Key Stage 4 Pastoral Practitioner who can support the needs of our pupils within the key stage 4-year groups. Working alongside the Head of Year you will provide support and guidance for our students ensuring their well-being, personal development and a positive educational experience. The successful candidate should have a passion and commitment for working with young people, be able to demonstrate their ability to establish excellent relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, and work well within a team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College and become an integral member of the Campus team.
Main responsibilities:
1. Have a visible presence around school, during breaks and lunchtimes and in tutor groups to reinforce school expectations and standards.
2. To ensure full compliance with the College dress code.
3. Be responsible for the pastoral care of students, working with tutors to ensure their needs are met and responded to.
4. Attend meetings with parents regarding student welfare, attendance and behaviour.
5. Contribute to, and attend multi agency meetings as required.
6. To work alongside the Head of Year to monitor academic progress and co-ordinate interventions, and monitor homework completion.
7. Ensure student participation in all aspects of the wider curriculum programme.
8. To support students to successfully transition into the school and onto their next Key Stage.
9. To support year assemblies as relevant and develop a year group ethos with the Head of Year.
10. To actively supervise students whilst on duty during the school day.
11. To liaise with parents/carers, staff, students and other stakeholders as needed in a timely and professional manner in relation to all aspects of students’ pastoral care.
12. To ensure students feel safe in school and follow school safeguarding policies and processes required.
1. To deputise for the Head of Year in their absence.
2. To contribute to the ‘on call’ rota within the campus.
3. To act as a fire warden as required by the School.
You will need:
1. Strong academic record, including English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or equivalent
2. Experience of working with/supervising students including knowledge of behavioural and learning difficulties
3. Ability to initiate, develop and maintain good working relationships with teachers, students, parents, staff and agencies
4. Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
5. Knowledge of a range of strategies to establish a purposeful learning environment and to promote good behaviour
