Interim Deputy Associate Director of Maternity Education

An interim developmental opportunity at Band 8B to support the Associate Director of Midwifery for Education for a period of one year. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills and innovative educator in Midwifery with wide-ranging skills in teaching, presenting midwifery education within midwifery disciplines. The applicant must be efficient in supporting roles within education teams across Barts Health Maternity and must be expert in and highly skilled in facilitating clinical skills within disciplines in the maternity workforce.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should be currently working within Barts Health Education Academy and or Maternity Education and should have been in an 8A position for a minimum of 24 months. The role supports cross site non graduates (Bands 2-4); pre registrants: Student Midwives including Apprenticeship Midwives in training, Post Registrants Midwives and the Multi Professional teams including Nurses, Obstetricians, Anaesthetists, and Neonatologists as well as internal and external stakeholders.
As a member of the Group Maternity Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and protecting the reputation of the Trust, promoting safety through education, and empowering and upskilling the workforce through training. We do this through providing strategic practice education, across all disciplines in maternity.
You will be working across the three maternity sites including the Group Director of Midwifery, The Directors and Associate Directors of the Education Academy, Associate Directors of Midwives and their Deputies, Practice Development Midwives, Clinical Placement Facilitators, and Preceptorship Leads.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will support the Associate Director of Midwifery Education in the development and implementation of the practice education strategy for pre and post practice registrants within maternity services. You will support in the development of the quality and safety agenda to achieve consistency of practice, high standards of care and innovation with a strong patient safety focus in maternity staff training. They will work in collaboration with the Multi-professional teams, site governance teams, Higher Education Institutes, Barts Health Education Academy to ensure the delivery and achievement of the group's educational, national objectives and contribute to the strategic policies for midwifery and maternity services in Education. They will develop and facilitate programs for CPD for all staff groups reflecting national agendas and for personal professional development.
As this is a developmental role, we will develop your skills, knowledge and experience in meeting national and strategic programs within maternity services at Barts Health across all levels.

Location: Your primary base will be at the Learning Center (Whipps Cross, Education Academy RLH, or Education Department South Side at the NUH. However, the role requires cross site working. There is flexibility for working from any of the maternity sites during the week.
