Salary £40,000 plus £500 bonus per week
Hours 45 hours per week
Based Matfen Hall Country Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate
Reporting to Head of Commercial Development
Overview: Matfen Hall is a privately owned five-star country house 63-bedroom hotel, spa, and golf course. Converted to a Hotel in 1999, Matfen Hall was purchased by Sir David and Lady Sylvia Harrison and Family in August 2020.
Since the takeover in 2020, a programme of refurbishment and repositioning of Matfen Hall has taken place, with further investment to follow.Having been recently awarded Five Star Status by the AA, Matfen Hall has been come the first and only Hotel to achieve this level in Northumberland.As Head of Marketing, you will be tasked with ensuring that the brand of Matfen Hall is presented in the best possible light across a variety of platforms and mediums.Working in tandem with the Head of Sales and the Head of Groups and Events, you will be responsible for generating the content and interest across our social media sites, in house app and website. You will work closely with our brand consultants, web and app developers, PR consultants and also manage our relationships with OTAs to ensure that we are represented accurately on their platforms.
You will work closely with the Head of Commercial Development; however, in your role you will also have regular meetings with our board of Directors and the owners.This will involve presenting our sales performance and articulating the activity both proactive and reactive to accelerate this performance.
Weekly we will review the email campaigns and social posts, monthly we will analyse the performance of our Google Ad investments and the traffic to the website.The aim of this being to really understand the impact of what we are doing to improve the performance overall.
Social media requires constant throughput of content, our preferred approach is a blend of organic content and professional shoot imagery, this will be a primary focus of the role and will require regular interactions with the operations teams whilst they are at their busiest to capture truly organic content rather than solely staged imagery.
Head of Marketing Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily checks of our website and app to ensure that our shop window is looking its best
Create a calendar of events, working with the Groups and Events Manager to ensure that a local and national positioning of Matfen Hall is achieved.
Manage OTAs to ensure that rates and imagery are correctly presented
Work with web developers to drive conversion rates and basket value on website
Collate and respond to online reviews across various platforms
Closely monitor the hotels business reports daily and take decisions accordingly.
Work closely with our web and app developers to ensure we are delivering the results we require and representing our brand in the best possible way.Additionally, working with our external brand consultants and PR consultants to ensure our external communications are on brand and effective.This will also see a key role play in the organisation of press visits and media interactions to boost our global positioning.
Instil in all team members the need to have guests downloading and using the App, ensure that regular training on its use and benefits is carried out.
Close working with management structure to ensure consistent induction and training of new starters.
Support the management structure in compliance with relevant legalisation, Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements including GDPR
PREREQUISITES: The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent marketing professional with luxury Hotel experience. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
EDUCATION: Experience in resort hotel with a proven track record in Sales growth. Excellent computer, financial, and business leadership skills.
EXPERIENCE: Ideally 5 years experience in the luxury setting with hospitality industry at a management level and above.
