SEMH Teaching Assistant

Veritas Education is supporting a range of our partner schools across Wakefield and the surrounding areas, helping them fill a variety of roles. We are currently looking for a Behavioural Intervention Assistant to work with students with SEMH and SEN needs, providing tailored support and strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional development. The Role
* Supporting students with SEMH and SEN needs by implementing behaviour management plans and strategies.
* Working closely with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
* Providing 1:1 support and tailored interventions to help students improve their emotional regulation, social skills, and overall well-being.
* Assisting with de-escalating challenging behaviours and creating a calm, structured environment.
* Encouraging positive social interaction and helping students develop coping strategies.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural difficulties is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of behaviour management strategies (e.g., Team Teach) is a plus.
* Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with students.
