To competently perform a full range of basic lung function tests on adults and paediatric patients including spirometry, gas diffusion tests, static lung volumes, respiratory muscle tests, FeNO and bronchodilator reversibility on in-patients and out-patients. To competently initiate patients on CPAP/BIPAP therapy, follow-up and review patients. To assess patients need for oxygen therapy, to order and set up oxygen including ambulatory and home oxygen and keep comprehensive records. To produce detailed reports and write letters to General Practitioners/ Hospital Medical staff clearly documenting the results of assessments, diagnosis, treatment plans and progress. Update patient notes and electronic systems as necessary. To teach junior staff. To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to emergency situations maintaining control and requesting assistance as necessary To participate in the training of other disciplines To liaise with ward and/or medical staff and ensure availability when required in order to perform in-patient testing.
