Job Summary
The Occupational Health & Wellbeing department have the opportunity to welcome an Occupational Health nurse to join their clinical team at Airedale General Hospital. This role ensures delivery of specialist occupational health nursing care through assessment, planning, and implementation. Supervises standards and uses research to develop and implement initiatives, policies, and procedures (taking account of relevant legislation). The post holder will assist, where necessary, with the provision of Employee Health services to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and external organisations.
Main Duties of the Job
* Possess the clinical skills to undertake clinics including: immunisations, audiometric tests, driver assessments, lung function tests, and other specialist screening procedures.
* Undertake pre-employment health screening, health assessments, and provide advice and information to staff ensuring consistent best practice to promote good health and prevent work-related ill health through management referrals.
* Undertake workplace assessments where work-related health problems have been reported and write clear reports on findings to managers and associated interested parties.
* Work autonomously by managing and prioritising the occupational health care of individuals and groups according to needs and risk.
* Manage both routine and complex contamination injuries (needlestick injuries) by undertaking an appropriate risk assessment in accordance with Trust policy and external contracts Dental and GP practices. Initiate the follow-up of staff as required and liaise with the Occupational Health Consultant or the Consultant microbiologist if post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is required.
* Undertake sickness management activities for both Trust and external contract employees.

Qualifications
Essential
* NMC Registration
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health OR working towards OR equivalent experience at a relevant level in occupational health services
Desirable
* Qualification in Health and Safety (NEBOSH or equivalent)
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working within Occupational Health Department
* Knowledge and experience in presenting both in a formal and informal setting
* Experience in advising individuals and groups in best occupational health practices
* Specialist knowledge and experience in the use of audit and health surveillance
* Experience of undertaking sickness absence management activities
* Knowledge and experience in the management of contamination incidents
* Knowledge and experience of SEQOHS standards
Desirable
* Experience of working in an NHS Occupational Health department
* Experience in collating, interpreting, and analysing serological data
* Experience of supervising and supporting other occupational health colleagues
