You’ll be a vital part of our innovation team, exploring new ideas and ‘ways of doing things’ to expand our current portfolio.
Purpose
* Design Direction: Develop a deep understanding of customer needs to create tailored product solutions, maintaining a customer-centric focus throughout the product development process.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and launch new products, enhancing Harrison’s product portfolio.
* Project Management: Proactively manage projects to ensure timely completion, meeting established KPIs.
Job Tasks
The job holder is expected to proficiently undertake the following tasks within the product development process:
1. Research & insights: Gather and analyse both internal and external data to define and scope project objectives.
2. Concept development: Generate and refine innovative product solutions that address the client's needs.
3. Presentations: Create sketches, renders and 3D models to clearly communicate design concepts in alignment with brand guidelines.
4. Prototyping: Develop prototypes using CAD software and physical materials to test form, fit and function of designs.
5. Material & manufacturing: Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes that align with the project requirements and cost constraints.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with the cross-functional teams, including design, sales, commercial and quality to brainstorm and finalise design details.
7. Technical Drawings: Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications and manufacturing instructions.
8. Project Management: Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet project goals.
9. Quality: Review and sign-off on design outputs, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and align with project specifications.
Person Specification
* Educational Background: A degree in Product Design, Industrial Design or similar field.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in CAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Keyshot.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in creating and reviewing all design outputs.
* Creative Confidence: Confidence and initiative to propose innovative ideas and solutions.
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically aligning decisions with corporate goals.
* Team Collaboration: Strong team-working skills and a collaborative approach to tasks.
* Flexibility: Adaptability to thrive in an ever-changing work environment.
* Self-Motivation: Ability to self-motivate and take ownership of tasks.
* Effective Communication: High standard of literacy for clear and effective written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
