Job Description: Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design, prototype, and guide the delivery of solutions across multiple components that meet user needs, adhere to customer design principles, and comply with Brand Guidelines. Lead and support technical design processes, fostering a culture of good user experience, while ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, meet business and system requirements, and are transitioned into business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
Accountabilities
* Understand, evaluate, and challenge IT system requirements from Subject Matter Experts and Business Analysts to ensure completeness and clarity for producing system design documents and accurate IT solution estimates.
* Define all potential options for end-to-end solutions and make reasoned recommendations to enable evidence-based decisions at relevant boards.
* Coordinate, create, and maintain system design collateral aligned with business objectives, architectural blueprints, design principles, and Brand Guidelines, following documented design patterns, templates, standards, and governance frameworks.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, delivery teams, and outsourced providers to support problem-solving, consensus-building, and build processes.
* Communicate solutions to teams and stakeholders, ensuring effective engagement throughout the delivery cycle.
* Manage interaction and integration designs, maintaining the integrity of the user journey throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and meet requirements.
* Facilitate and support the transition of solutions into BAU, assisting with live incident resolution in line with the ITIL framework.
* Contribute to the creation and maintenance of design patterns, ensuring designs adhere to these standards for best practices.
* Continuously develop skills and behaviors that promote the value of the solution design function, aligned with the principles in the Solution Design Team Charter.
* Deliver short-term or one-off projects as directed by the Line Manager, meeting agreed standards and outcomes.
Experience and Knowledge:
* Extensive demonstrable experience in IT system design and/or software development.
* Minimum of 10+ years total experience, with at least 4+ years relevant experience.
* Experience with UML, C4-Model (preferably at least conceptual level).
* Assist architects in creating the Solution Vision.
* Experience with various software development methodologies.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical content clearly.
* Previous experience in Financial services, insurance, investments, or pensions is advantageous.
* Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships at all levels.
* Knowledge of Middle layer/API/Backend system integration, Basis Database, and ETL processes.
* Experience with AWS/Azure Cloud and on-premises application hosting, with at least one project.
* Experience in Web app and infrastructure security.
