Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust
The newly integrated Community Vaccination Service is looking for a team player and experienced Nurse to deliver the school age vaccination programme alongside the Covid vaccination delivery to housebound patients and care homes.
Vaccinations are the safest and most effective way of protecting individuals and communities from vaccine preventable diseases. Working for the Community Vaccination Service allows you to work as part of a team supporting and promoting the importance of vaccines, who are passionate to protect this age group and offering support to the Integrated Vaccination Service across the Trust. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Immunisation Nurse to support the management of the Community Vaccination Service (CVS).
The CVS team is part of the Integrated Vaccination Service and provides all school age children in Dorset their immunisations as per the UK Health Security Agency schedule. Alongside this, the service also provides Covid vaccines to the housebound and care home residents of Dorset. You will be supporting the management of a team of nurses and administrators on a day-to-day basis, ensuring all clinics and sessions are staffed appropriately and safely. The role will be based pan Dorset, with a base at the Linden Unit in Weymouth.
Main duties of the job
Part-time post of 22.5 hours per week, term time only. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
1. Administering vaccines in schools, at community clinics, in care homes and in patient homes.
2. Collecting vaccines and equipment from vaccine bases.
3. Triage of consent forms.
4. Providing expert knowledge to service users.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
