We are looking for a General Practice Nurse on a permanent contract to join our friendly team here at the Clanfield Practice, who has an interest in respiratory and treatment room duties. Experience within a primary care setting is desirable, however this is not essential.
Main duties of the job
* RGN Qualified and have NMC registration.
* Ideally possess experience with managing Asthma and COPD and be enthusiastic and interested in delivering respiratory care.
* Offer a wide range of nursing care provision to patients.
* Deliver excellent and safe patient care, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring long-term conditions, health prevention, and treatment room duties.

* 2 Specialist Nurse Prescribers
* 1 Lead Nurse
* We have circa 8000 patients in a semi-rural location with good commutable links
* Great collaborative relationship with our neighbouring practices
* Part of the East Hants PCN offering supportive roles with a Paramedic, a team of Social Prescribers, Clinical Pharmacists, and Mental Health.
* The Home Visiting Service carries out most of our acute home visits.

Person specification Practice Nurse
* Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
* Experience of working in a primary care environment desirable but not essential.
* Experience of working autonomously.
* Experience of working as a practice nurse or community nurse desirable but not essential.
* Experience of infection prevention and control measures.
* Clinical knowledge in the following:
o Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
o ECGs
o Venepuncture
o Immunisations (routine, childhood, and travel)
o Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
o Travel medicine
o Chronic disease management awareness desirable but not essential for:
+ Diabetes
+ CHD
+ Asthma
* Understanding the importance of evidence-based practice.
* Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy.
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
* Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs.
* Chaperone procedure.
* Broad knowledge of clinical governance.
* Knowledge of public health issues in the local area.
* Awareness of issues within the wider health arena.
* Knowledge of health promotion strategies.
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
