Position Title: NPD/NPI Quality Engineer
Reports to: Quality Manager
Position Summary:
The NPD/NPI quality engineer is a key appointment operating from a significant site with 400+ employees. The role is responsible for the lifecycle of NPD/NPI projects from a quality point of view, ensuring that the introduction of the new product meets the quality requirements and expectations of our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Represent quality in the NPD/NPI projects.
* Review proposed projects, complete the risk register associated with the change.
* Define the test plan and pass/fail parameters with engineering.
* Develop the DFMEA with engineering lead.
* Participate in the prototype/design review and log quality concerns.
* Follow up on DFMEA/Risk register/design review log to address concerns.
* Participate in the PFMEA in the factory.
* Complete the quality register in line with project phases.
* Support the supplier quality team in the PPAPs and liaise with engineering for supplier development.
* Sort/interpret data to reach conclusions (Six Sigma – Minitab).
* Innovate solutions to resolve quality-related challenges in the NPD process.
Candidate Experience and Qualification:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or related discipline preferred (5+ years’ experience in manufacturing).
* Familiarity with test methods and validation techniques.
* Knowledge of risk assessment tools like failure mode and effects analysis.
* Understanding of the product development lifecycle.
* Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Strong skills in statistical tools.
* Organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
Additional Attributes:
* Experience in managing supplier relationships and conducting supplier audits.
* Problem-solving skills using methodologies like 8D and Root Cause Corrective Action.
