We are looking for a skilled professional with a biomedical science background to come join our private laboratory based on Wynyard Business Park, Billingham.
The laboratory covers a wide range of pathology testing for both NHS and private sectors.
The post is for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with experience within a clinical microbiology laboratory. Hours of work can be flexible within core hours of the opening times Monday - Saturday.
The ideal candidate will possess great rounded knowledge and will be expected to participate in other areas of pathology as and when needed after appropriate training has been given.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure efficient processing of patient samples using a variety of manual, semi-automated and fully automated techniques and instrumentation.
* Undertake troubleshooting and maintenance on any equipment within the section.
* Assess the suitability and appropriateness of samples received, liaising with medical staff as appropriate.
* Ensure satisfactory completion of the analytical process and technically validate the results to ensure that all results are reported within the agreed turnaround times.
* Monitor satisfactory performance of analyses, checking internal quality control
* samples and taking appropriate corrective action if outside agreed limits.
* Refer unusual or unfamiliar events to a more experienced BMS for action or advice.
* Prioritise investigations appropriate to ensure that agreed turn-round
* times for urgent requests are met.
* Participate in development of new methodologies / instrument evaluation as required.
* Comply with all appropriate codes of conduct.
* Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
* Take personal responsibility for putting the person receiving care first
To be considered for this role, candidates must:
* Be an HCPC registered biomedical Scientist
* Have post qualifying experience within a clinical microbiology laboratory
