We are pleased to offer this fabulous opportunity for a Band 7 Nurse Leader to join the B6 Frailty Short Stay Unit. In this role you will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical and compassionate leadership skills within elderly medicine.
You should be someone who strives to deliver high standards of care to medically ill patients who also live with frailty and dementia. The post holder will be responsible for upholding excellent standards of care and have a willingness to develop the team. You must demonstrate knowledge and experience in caring for patients living with frailty and dementia in addition to knowledge around mental health law. You will work alongside colleagues who are devoted to continually improving the quality of care and enhance our patient's experience.
The post holder is responsible and accountable for overseeing the continuous day-to-day management of the unit including the organisation of the unit activities and the management of staff and resources. The post holder will support the Matron in developing and monitoring services to ensure patients admitted to the Unit receive a high standard of care whilst continuing to achieve both National and Local targets related to Elderly Care/ Frailty.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide effective leadership to all staff in the nursing unit/department.
2. To provide opportunities for all staff to develop leadership abilities.
3. To assist the Matron in developing the strategic direction for the service specialty.
4. To initiate and manage change effectively within the nursing unit/department to promote improved patient care and practices.
5. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues from other disciplines.
6. To be responsible for patient's progress along the agreed care pathways, which are supported by the implementation of evidence-based practices.
7. To provide nursing care and expert nursing support as appropriate to patients in the nursing unit/department and across other specialties as required.
8. To take the lead in one or more specific initiatives for the nursing unit/department and undertake small projects to be determined in conjunction with the Matron e.g. quality targets etc.

* First Level registration with NMC
* Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing
* Educated to diploma level or can demonstrate experience of operating at this level
* Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification
