Nursery: Bright Horizons Canterbury Day Nursery and Preschool
Salary: £23,795 - £25,000 per annum (dependant on qualification/s and experience)
Location: Canterbury, Kent
We are looking for a full time, nursery-based Kitchen Assistant to join our Bright Horizons Canterbury nursery, situated in Canterbury, Kent. The nursery is Ofsted rated 'Good' and boasts a large and stimulating garden area. The main garden features an outdoor classroom, a cycle track, two low-level tree houses, a climbing net, a water feature, digging and planting areas, and chalk and painting boards.

What you’ll be doing
10. Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment, adhering to internal and external requirements
11. Support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age-appropriate food for all the children, with minimal food wastage
12. In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, and ensuring all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams
13. Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health and safety and safeguarding
14. Support the Chef to ensure budgetary requirements are met, and stock levels are suitably managed and recorded
15. Work with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy and safe environment
What we’re looking for
16. Previous experience within a role which involves cooking or working in a kitchen within a domestic or commercial property
17. Passion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eating
18. Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post
19. Sound knowledge of COSHH
20. Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies
21. Great communication skills, with both colleagues, children, and parents
22. Ability to work under pressure
