Band 5 Occupational Therapist, Services for People with a Learning Disability, Bedfordshire and Luton
The occupational therapy service in Luton & Bedfordshire is ready to welcome you to our dynamic, innovative and responsive team! If you are motivated, compassionate, creative and enjoy a challenge then we may just be the right fit for you. We are seeking a full time Band 5 Occupational Therapist (OT) to work within the Services for People with a Learning Disability (SPLD) Occupational Therapy team.
Main duties of the job
The OT team in the SPLD service provides specialist OT assessment, using the Model of Human Occupation, intervention and/or recommendations to service users across Bedfordshire and Luton, using evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions with a focus on enabling an individual's occupational functioning. You will work within a supportive multi-disciplinary community based team and see service users in their homes, day care settings and/or work places. You will also support the work of the wider MDT but your primary focus will be on OT assessment and intervention with service users and their carers, and your role will make a significant difference to their quality of life.
About us
A planned, supportive induction period will be developed to enable you to reach your full potential in your role. If you have not yet completed your preceptorship, we will support you to complete one. Regular managerial and professional supervision will be provided and we also provide monthly opportunities to participate in OT Service-wide CPD events. Professional development and training are actively encouraged through the appraisal process, and we also offer specialist training opportunities and a Band 5 Support and Development programme.
We are a large occupational therapy service, spanning the entire county and working across inpatient, community and specialist mental health services and across all age groups. Due to the size of the service and the excellent profile of OT in the directorate, we have a wide range of opportunities to develop and grow within the service.
Benefits of working for the Trust
Benefits include a Holiday of a Lifetime Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), Child care vouchers, Relocation packages and Wellbeing sessions.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
