An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to come and join the Swansea Bay Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing Service.
The role is focused on supporting staff and volunteers of the health board in managing their health and wellbeing in relation to work. This varied role requires an individual who is able to holistically assess the needs of staff/volunteers accessing the service, and provide effective and prudent intervention to support their return to work or the ongoing management of their health condition in the workplace.
The post is particularly suited to a motivated and skilled Occupational Therapist, with previous experience supporting individuals with long-term health conditions and providing vocational advice and support.
Specialist focus of the role is on providing tools to manage mild-moderate mental health issues including stress, anxiety and depression.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about supporting the health of our NHS workforce, who is an active team player and who is excited to be involved in a range of service development opportunities to meet the changing needs of this service group.
Main duties of the job
* Provide support to the Occupational Therapy Lead and AHP Lead in the development of the Health Board wide service.
* To provide clinical leadership for junior staff and students, through supervision and appraisal as delegated by the line manager.
* To deliver support and interventions that enable participants to manage their health and return to and/or remain in work.
* To manage a defined caseload of clients with complex health/work needs, using evidence based client-centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention and maintain associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
* Degree in Occupational Therapy plus, evidence of achievement of Post Graduate study/qualification or able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge, skills, and experience.
* Hold a qualification approved by RCOT and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Comply with the HCPC/RCOT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and Standards of Practice.
* Keep up to date and understand the requirements of, and the implications for service delivery, of national standards e.g., NICE. Knowledge and application of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT and its application within mild-moderate mental health, management of chronic conditions or pain, bio-psychosocial model, and knowledge of issues around health records keeping.

* Post registration training in health at work/vocational rehabilitation

* Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate in writing as well as independently delivering presentations both face to face and virtually. * Ability to make clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases, negotiating appropriately with others where opinions differ.
* Ability to prioritise workload including effective caseload management. Setting priorities to meet deadlines in line with the service model.
* Able to demonstrate effective independent working as well as working within a team to achieve shared aims and objectives to meet the needs of the service.
Desirable
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
