Do you enjoy creating innovative product and technical solutions? SRG are looking for a liquid scientist to work with a global beverage brand based in Bishops Stortford. The role aims to make innovation the driver for organic growth and build shareholder value by creating highly differentiated new products (Liquids) that satisfy consumer and customer needs. You will drive competitive advantage through commercially focused technological innovation, ensuring the delivery of goals within budget informed by consumer & strategic science activity.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced food or beverage research scientist, with a proven track record of managing technical projects, and an in-depth knowledge of formulation experiment design relating to the food and beverage industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Leads development of 5-7 products/year and/or the highest business priority projects.
2. Consistently creates exceptional/winning liquids that meet KPI's - enjoys creative work on the bench.
3. Independently creates smart design and liquid strategy - aligns strategy with manager, marketing, and Sensory/Research Planner.
4. Designs learning plan and interprets consumer/sensory learnings to deliver optimal liquid solutions within cost targets.
5. Formulates creatively and balances the commercialization requirements to ensure feasibility.
6. Seeks out new ingredients and methods for better outputs and proactively shares information with fellow developers.
7. With support, holds tension with supply to ensure quality of execution to shelf.
8. Adheres to best practice/governance procedures with robust handover to supply from concept to commercialization.
9. Supports sales team with compelling concepts, consumer insights, samples, technical information, and sell-in meetings where required.
Requirements:
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, or related discipline required. Additional certifications including Masters preferred but not a must. Engineering or Applied Science Degree or recognized technical equivalent.
2. Experience: Requires 5+ years of relevant project and/or research experience (Food or Beverage) including doctoral or post-doctoral research. Proven track record of managing technical projects through to execution. Beverage development experience preferred.
