A highly organised and detail-oriented Governance Officer is required to provide comprehensive governance support and secretariat services at a prestigious private members’ club in London. About the Role The Governance Officer will play a key role in supporting the governance structure, ensuring adherence to the club’s rules, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of governance functions while providing valuable insight and advice to the Main Committee, sub-committees, and Senior Leadership Team. Key Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to the governance framework, rules, and bye-laws. Monitor legislation and regulatory changes, advising on governance compliance. Provide governance guidance on committee procedures and reporting requirements. Oversee the election and appointment process for committee members. Plan, coordinate, and prepare meeting agendas, board packs, and reports. Attend meetings as required and prepare detailed, accurate minutes. Track and follow up on meeting action points. Maintain governance-related documentation and website content. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and confidence in working with senior stakeholders. Key Skills & Experience: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multitask. Strong relationship-building skills across multiple teams and departments. Excellent IT proficiency (Microsoft 365: Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Outstanding written and verbal communication, with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Previous governance experience is highly desirable but not essential.
