Balmoral Surgery is looking for a registered part-time Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive practice in Deal. We are a busy training practice with 12,000 patients and are located in a purpose-built premises near the seaside. Main duties of the job
The vacancy we have is for a Practice Nurse to work 25 hours per week (5 sessions) which would be on a rota.
The shifts here are 8.30am - 1.30pm or 1.30pm - 6.30pm. The flexible rota ensures all PNs take part in the various clinics that we run to allow skills to remain up-to-date.
We run diabetic and respiratory clinics and so prefer our PNs to have additional knowledge in at least one of these areas to enable the clinics to run efficiently through holiday and sickness periods.
The general treatment room duties consist of cervical cytology, travel vaccines, childhood immunisation, wound care, ear syringing, ECGs, etc. - all usual Primary Care services. We provide a full range of general medical services and enhanced services for our patients.

Balmoral Surgery has five partners and two salaried GPs as well as an ACP, an ANP, and a paramedic. We are a training Practice which received an Outstanding rating at our last CQC inspection. We are in the seaside town of Deal and have 12,000 patients.
As a training Practice, we regularly have doctors and other learners at varying points in their training, working with us.
Job responsibilities
Practice Nurse Job Description
Practice Nurse with responsibility for providing nursing care under the direction of the Practice Manager and Partners. Reports to the Practice Management and clinically to the Partners.
Will work as part of the Practice Primary Health Care Team along with other PNs, HCAs, doctors, as well as District Nurses and PCN staff.
Duties to include:
1. All normal treatment room activities including cervical cytology, ECGs, travel vaccinations, wound care management, ear syringing, vaccination programmes including childhood immunisations, health promotional activities, etc. This list is not exhaustive and other duties will also be included as the need arises.
2. Management of patients with respiratory disease registered with the Practice and the running and co-ordination of the respiratory clinic.
3. Management of patients with diabetes registered with the Practice and the running and co-ordination of the diabetic clinic.
4. Working to Practice protocols to give nursing treatments under the medical direction of the Partners. Ensuring PGDs are kept up-to-date.
5. Liaising and communicating closely with other members of the Primary Care Team and with the Partners to ensure the best level of care is provided to our patients whilst achieving a smooth running and efficient business.
6. Involvement in mentoring and teaching new members of the Practice team including GP registrars, other PNs, and HCAs.
7. Ordering vaccines and stocks and supplies such as are required for efficient running of the treatment rooms.
8. Keeping knowledge and skills up to date and attending training as appropriate. Attending regular Clinical Supervision sessions.
9. Covering for holidays and sickness of other team members as appropriate.
10. Keeping records and making claims appropriately including work for medicines management and other relevant target-based projects.
11. Responsibility for infection control within the Practice to meet CQC regulations and all other appropriate requirements.
12. Other tasks that may arise should be undertaken under the direction of the Practice Manager and the Partners of the Practice.
