Head of Safeguarding and Quality required to work at County Hall, Beverley (with flexible working arrangements). Working days will be Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week (with requirement to form part of on-call rota for senior leadership team for evenings and weekends).

The Council is continuing to develop its Adult Social Care offer, ensuring that we can be supportive and responsive to resident needs. We are looking for an experienced and confident social care professional to join our senior leadership team as the Head of Service for Safeguarding and Quality.
This role will hold responsibility for our Safeguarding Adults Hub, established in January 2025 following the introduction of our new safeguarding operating model. The successful post holder will have the opportunity to work closely with ADASS to evaluate the model, which has been successful in achieving positive changes in safeguarding practices in our area.
Additionally, the role requires oversight of the Council’s Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team, BIA framework, and our county-wide Review Team.
We seek a candidate with proven leadership skills and a strong understanding of relevant legislation and frameworks underpinning this area of work.
We also require someone energetic, resilient, with sound budget management abilities, and who always prioritizes residents and staff wellbeing.
You will represent the Council at forums and working groups related to safeguarding and mental capacity regionally, sharing successes and learning from partners to ensure best practices.
You will oversee our Practice and Quality team, led by our Principal Social Worker, which manages our ASYE programme, Social Worker Apprenticeships, policy development, and practice improvement initiatives. You will be passionate about staff development and ensuring access to excellent learning opportunities for assessment team members. The directorate is committed to continuous professional development and offers opportunities for further leadership and learning through various forums and training.
This role requires an experienced, confident, and dynamic leader capable of working collaboratively across the Council and system partners to drive transformation and development in safeguarding and social work practice. Experience in change management and innovative service delivery is essential.
