What You Will Be Doing
As a Mechanical Engineering Industrial Placement candidate, you will join an exciting team who work throughout the whole submarine life cycle, from concept through to activities with the operational fleet across our current, new, and future classes of submarine like Astute, Dreadnought & SSN-AUKUS.
Duties and Responsibilities
You could be involved in designing, developing and modelling complex systems, components, and products, as well as supporting build, test, commissioning, and in-service operation, including but not limited to the following areas:
* Gearbox
* Turbines (Main Engines, Turbo-Generators)
* Condenser/Heat Exchangers
* Ocean Interfaces
* Ventilation and Atmosphere Control (e.g. oxygen production and carbon dioxide removal)
* Survival Systems (e.g. firefighting and emergency breathing systems)
Minimum Requirements
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Structural Engineering. To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
