As our Rail Engineer, you'll enjoy a hybrid working model, splitting your time between key site locations such as Kineton, Bicester, Longtown and of course your home base location.
YOUR ROLE
Reporting directly to the National Rail Manager, this pivotal role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of our rail services. As the lead responsible for overseeing the Kuehne+Nagel locomotive fleet, as well as other rail rolling stock and equipment used in our customers' transport operations across the UK, your expertise will be instrumental to our success. In this dynamic position, you will leverage your in-depth rail knowledge to uphold the highest standards in safety, procedures, and quality systems, while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Development, implementation and monitoring appropriate maintenance policies, plans, and documentation.
Ensure record keeping of all fleet is kept up to date and is maintained within required servicing schedule requirements.
Become the Contract Manager for maintenance, spares and other contracts.
Undertake technical training and competence assessment for Kuehne+Nagel staff working on locomotives and rolling stock.
Manage the spare parts holdings, procurement, and overhaul, ensuring that appropriate specifications are available and used.
Provide practical support, give technical advice and undertake fault finding, inspection or maintenance when appropriate.
Undertake checks and audits on asset condition and work done.
Liaise as necessary with the Entity in Charge of Maintenance for the Main Line wagon fleet.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Railway locomotive and rolling stock maintenance and repair experience.
In depth understanding of locomotive diesel engines, transmission, electrical, braking, and ancillary systems.
Experience of controlling the maintenance, repair and inspection of T&RS or mechanically propelled equipment.
Engineering qualification to at least HNC level and Membership of the Institution of Mechanical or Electrical Engineers, or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Health and Safety, Quality and Safety Management systems and Legal compliance requirements.
Team working and customer focussed approach.
