Our client, a leading company in the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking an Audio Quality & Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Biggleswade. This is a permanent role within a company renowned for its Emmy award-winning contribution to recording excellence, with a history of working on blockbuster movies and with renowned artists like Prince and Stevie Wonder.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Part of the team for quality control of incoming and outgoing materials and products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
2. Development of skills in CAD / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering for loudspeaker design, manufacturing processes, and acoustic principles.
3. Development of listening skills through detailed customer-focused inspections, audits, and final sign-off for outgoing products.
4. Documentation of inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarising re-work and waste; inputting data into a quality database.
5. Ensuring that audio testing is carried out in production correctly.
6. Keeping measurement & audio test equipment operating by following operating instructions, maintaining calibration records.
7. Maintaining, updating and reviewing QC procedures and returns policies.
8. Supporting the Quality Manager to resolve production and supplier-related quality issues.
9. Aiming to continually improve quality standards by offering suggestions where appropriate.
10. Producing inspection audit reports to identify quality problems within the manufacturing process.
11. Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
12. Any other duties commensurate with the role.
Job Requirements:
1. Experience of audio and music technology.
2. Willingness to develop listening skills and excellent hearing.
3. Electronics and audio testing knowledge and principles (audio circuits and components).
4. Experience with audio analysers desirable.
5. The ability to read and understand technical drawings and electronic schematics.
6. Experience of inspection measurement tools such as calipers and gauges.
7. Good computer skills - Microsoft Windows 10, Excel, Word, MRP (SAP B1) knowledge and experience.
8. Driving licence / transport - travel between production sites in Luton and Sandy will be required.
Desirable, but Not Essential:
1. Experience or knowledge of BSEN ISO 9001:2005 Quality Management Systems.
