A member of the Liberty Steel UK group of companies. The Pipe Mills at Liberty Pipes Hartlepool are the UK’s largest steel pipe mills, manufacturing heavy duty steel pipe primarily for the energy and construction industries both in the UK and worldwide.
This is a very exciting time to join our team at Hartlepool Pipe mills as we embark upon our long term strategy of extending our support of the new Energy Transition infrastructure within the UK.
The successful applicant will be joining a company that has a world class manufacturing capability, and a skilled workforce with a long history and global recognition .
The purpose of the role is to provide first line Mechanical support to our manufacturing areas to ensure maximum availability of equipment within the two Mills on site.
You will be responsible for conducting all aspects of the job in a safe manner and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulations, procedures and policies. You will execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority. Responding to plant breakdowns and machine size changes ensuring plant downtime is minimised.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
1. A recognised mechanical apprenticeship ideally gained within an industrial environment.
2. Experience of working effectively within a team.
3. A systematic problem- solving approach and ability to understand when and how to ask for support.
4. A background in heavy engineering manufacturing.
5. Good interpersonal skills and an ability to articulate effectively with a range of individuals on site.
6. A sound level of computer literacy.
7. A flexible approach to workload, with a positive attitude to both continuous improvement and personal development.
Main Responsibilities:
8. To provide first line mechanical support and assistance to manufacturing areas to minimise plant down time.
9. To ensure that any deficiencies found are repaired appropriately and that repairs are robust enough to prevent a recurrence.
10. To suggest and implement improvements to plant systems.
11. To execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority.
12. To conduct all aspects of the job in a safe manner in accordance with company procedures and standards and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulation, procedures and policies.
This role currently operates on a 2 shift system of work encompassing mornings and afternoons on a Monday to Friday basis. The successful candidate will need to be prepared to work differing shift patterns as workload dictates (additional payment is made in such eventualities).
