Submarine Support Engineering is a business unit within Babcock's Nuclear Sector and is the industry leader in providing In Service Engineering and Programme support to the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) enabling better enterprise decision making to keep Submariners Safe at Sea. As a trusted provider for global defence & security, Babcock is an exciting and fast paced business carrying out a diverse range of activities. Key to our mission is submarine enterprise collaboration in delivering engineering and programme outputs that support the successful delivery of the In-Service submarine programme.
The Submarine Operations Centre is a key capability delivered by a joint Babcock / SDA team, using the combination of our knowledge and experience with ever improving digital tools and information to improve the management of submarine maintenance requirements and the design of maintenance projects to support effective operations delivered by our waterfront project and delivery teams.
The role
As a Submarine Operations Centre Lead, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Executing and continuing future development of the joint Submarine Operations Centre capability.
Day-to-day, you'll be embedded with the SDA's Submarine Platform Managers as a technical problem solver to ensure smooth delivery to the client.
* Provide and present complex programme & engineering data analysis to enable collaborative decision-making, driving enterprise performance improvement
* You will lead critical Submarine Operations Centre planning and co-ordination activities, identifying Issues and actions affecting certainty of delivery of the submarine programme
* You will provide critical advice to key stakeholders whilst being supported by project & engineering teams conducting key engineering & programme analysis
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to Bristol BTC OR Abbey Wood on a weekly / monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Submarine Operations Centre Lead
* Knowledge of submarine in-service support arrangements
* Proven senior stakeholder management experience
* Full Project lifecycle experience from bid phase through to close out
* Experience in a project management position
* Ability to champion high performance & inspire others
Qualifications for the Submarine Operations Centre Lead
* A bachelor's degree in engineering / project / construction management or equivalent experience
* Chartership or demonstrated route to chartership in project management or engineering

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
