Job summary
An exciting vacancy has become available within the Trauma and Orthopaedic service at Wexham Park Hospital. We are looking for an experienced Band 6/7 nurse to join our Trauma Nurse Practitioner team.
Applicants will have experience in trauma and orthopaedics nursing and possess the clinical knowledge and expertise to support Consultant ward rounds, facilitate daily post-take ward rounds, and assist in the preparation of daily trauma operating lists.
Excellent communication skills are essential to collaborate with the MDT, patients, and families to provide clear explanations of procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans to ensure positive outcomes for our patients.
The successful candidate will have a fundamental role within the trauma and orthopaedic service, engaging with various stakeholders across professional groups in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
Enhanced skills modules will be supported to ensure the post holder has the skills required to fulfill this specialist role, including support from a highly visible Senior Clinical Matron and Consultants. The service operates Monday to Friday and involves line management of a Trauma Co-ordinator and assistance in managing the National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD) and other clinical governance practices.

Main duties of the job
1. Maintain close working relationships with Orthopaedic Clinicians and nursing team.
2. Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
3. Possess experience in trauma and orthopaedics nursing, supporting ward rounds, and assisting in daily trauma operating list preparations.
4. Engage with a variety of stakeholders across professional groups for the best patient outcomes.
5. Facilitate daily post-take ward rounds and ensure all trauma and orthopaedic outliers are reviewed with care plans.
6. Support education and provide advice to clinical and nursing staff caring for trauma orthopaedics patients.
7. Line manage the Trauma Co-ordinator and assist in managing the NHFD, including monthly validation checks.
