WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
To become a Hairdressing Lecturer in our Hair and Beauty department, we need someone who is passionate about teaching, skilled in hairdressing, and able to inspire students. They should have excellent communication skills, industry knowledge, and relevant qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.
We have a variety of students from the surrounding area, and we are a welcoming and inclusive community that champions diversity and equality across our college.
Our departments collaborate to establish and uphold the inclusive HoW culture, keeping this in mind as we manage interactions with the public, fellow employees, and nearby schools.
Although this position is centred on our Redditch campus, all applicants must be prepared to travel to our other campuses or surrounding areas as required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
AIM AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the role is to be responsible for flexible and proactive delivery of an agreed teaching programme in hairdressing and other related areas. In addition to teaching, to undertake a range of administrative and developmental duties that contribute to improving standards, achievements, and the learner experience.
KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
* To teach across a range of programmes in hairdressing and associated areas.
* To develop further courses in associated areas.
* To take an active part in the recruitment of learners providing appropriate advice and guidance.
* To deliver high quality teaching and learning by:
o providing students with a planned learning and assessment experience;
o effectively managing and monitoring the learning process;
o providing regular assessment opportunities and setting SMART targets;
o providing timely and constructive feedback;
o guiding and supporting learners to achieve their learning goals;
o supporting, and where appropriate, contextualising English, maths and digital skills in the curriculum.
o actively developing and using new digital technology in teaching, learning and assessment.
o providing assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific programme.
o ensuring effective co-ordination of curriculum in teaching areas.
o producing schemes of work, lesson plans, individual learning plans, assessment schedules and learning materials etc. appropriate to the curriculum area.
o evaluating and assessing (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and providing timely, constructive and helpful learner feedback.
o attending curriculum meetings and contributing to the continual quality improvement mechanisms.
o keeping accurate and effective systems of administration which support the student and College needs.
o where appropriate, liaising with other departments.
o ensuring safe working practices across the programme area.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
* To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* To participate in the College’s Performance Management Scheme and attend such training events as are necessary to enable him/her to carry out the duties of the job description.
* To continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practices.
* To actively participate in the College’s Quality System.
* To undertake such other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
* To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/her and for others affected by his/her work.
* To actively support College Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies.
* To operate/conduct all HR tasks and functions within the principles of GDPR.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Academic Staff.

SALARY
The salary range for this post is from £24,118 to £38,244 per annum pro rata.
TEACHING QUALIFICATION
Applicants are required to hold an appropriate teaching qualification or be willing to undertake and gain the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years of their appointment.
MATHS AND ENGLISH
All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths.
