We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Manufacturing Engineering team. This role is pivotal in supporting our business plan by developing and standardizing processes for both new model introductions and ongoing series production.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring seamless transitions from concept designs through prototype stages into series production, as well as continuously improving existing manufacturing processes.
The Manufacturing Engineer role:
* Vehicle Assembly Concept: Develop vehicle assembly concepts starting in the virtual environment and transitioning to physical validation and delivery.
* Process Sequencing and Documentation: Create and maintain process sequences, documentation, and product traceability methodologies aligned with current and future strategies.
* PFMEA and Quality Improvement: Support and drive best practices implementation to enhance Right First Time (RFT) delivery.
* Hours Per Car (HPC) Management: Own and maintain HPC data for new and existing model introductions, ensuring efficiency and output targets are met. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve production bottlenecks.
* Line Balancing: Conduct time and motion studies to ensure optimal line balancing and manpower allocation.
* Facility Layout and Utilisation: Lead the design and modification of facility layouts and material flow, collaborating with engineering and operations teams to align with the overall facility vision.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Influence and support concept/design reviews, engineering releases, and DFMEA processes. Update process documentation, PFMEA’s, and Quality Control Plans.
* Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement: Implement and control lean manufacturing and error-proofing strategies. Utilize problem-solving skills and methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, 4M’s, PDCA, 5S, and Kaizen to reduce costs and enhance process quality and throughput.
The ideal Manufacturing Engineer:
* A degree in mechanical or automotive engineering (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience in a similar role.
* Experience in planning and executing new vehicle programs.
* Proficiency with complex vehicle systems and vehicle assembly processes, including trim and final processes, body assembly processes, and end-of-line vehicle processing/finishing.
* Experience in the specification and procurement of major assembly equipment.
* Proven ability to identify and resolve product-related issues while ensuring all quality targets are achieved.
o Proficiency with CATIA and 3D experience is desired but not required.
