A nationally recognised, innovative nurse-led clinical team have an opportunity for an experienced and dynamic individual to join the team as Lead Nurse.
Outpatient Parental Anti-microbial Therapy (OPAT) is a cross site service providing Intravenous Antibiotic treatment for patients within a domiciliary and clinic setting including patients who are trained to self-administer medication.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced nursing expertise, effective line management of the team and co-ordination of the service. They will lead on patient counselling and education from initial referral through to discharge and end of treatment. The Lead Nurse will provide a pivotal link between in-patients and the domiciliary team, attending MDT meetings and completing clinical audit.
It is crucial that the successful candidate leads on quality improvement and developing the speciality service, identifying opportunities to expand and grow the service.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills which will be required to liaise with medical, nursing and AHP teams including internal and external agencies.
The successful candidate will have leadership experience and contribute to the sider strategic direction of nursing within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a clinical lead and role model to other nursing staff by delivering high quality patient care as an expert practitioner
* Assess, develop and implement specialist nursing care programmes and evaluate care and treatments
* Provide highly specialised advice and treatment plans contributing to the diagnosis and individual care of patients
* Plan, provide and facilitate specialist training and education of multi-professional staff, learners, patients within the speciality
* Provide clinical leadership and line management for the OPAT team developing new ways of working to best support patient care
* Investigate and respond to incidents, complaints and patient safety concerns
Person Specification
Clinical
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Experience at Band 6 level or equivalent within speciality
* Experience of Line Managing a clinical team
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
* Evidence of completion of Level 7 study
Managerial
* Experience in audit and setting of standards
* Demonstration of significant contribution to innovate practice/change management
* Excellent organisational skill including the ability to manage own work load and delegation
* Ability to plan specialist nursing provision including education and training
* Experience of participation in areas of clinical governance and risk assessment
* Evidence of effective multi-professional working
