Maths Teacher Based in Westbury Full time SEN experience is essential £29,500 to £42,000 (Dependant on experience) Must have QTS An amazing opportunity for an experienced qualified Teacher, with an interest in a long term career working within special education. The students come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities ( SEND ) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. The work they do is both varied and challenging and, as a trauma and attachment informed organisation, all staff are provided with extensive therapeutic training and support. There are only 12 students currently on site, which will give you the opportunity to develop trusting rapport with all and personalise learning. The children require very special adults who can support children with complex and challenging behaviours. The children require lots of attention, just the right sort of communication, consistency and flexibility in equal measure, and a non-judgemental approach. They need to be resilient, persistent and solution focussed to meet the needs of our children and to do so they need to wear a lot of hats and be prepared to change them at a moment’s notice The headteacher is looking for a maths specialist, the maths curricula span Entry level, functional skills, key stage 3 and GCSE. You will be supported by SLT when it comes to planning and assessing students' progress. There will be an expectation to cover other subjects, which include science. You will have LSA’s, that will help keep the classroom a tidy, positive environment for students to be working in, addition to making display boards and preparing resources prior to lessons. Previous experience working in a special needs school is desirable, however if you have worked with SEN students within a mainstream school this will suffice. This will be a part time position, working up to 4 days a week, Monday to Friday, term time only, there will be an opportunity to progress into a permanent position, if you demonstrate to be an excellent addition to the team.
