Post 1: Blood Science at SJH
Post 2: Immunology/Serology at RIE
The NHS Lothian Blood Science Laboratories comprising Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Immunology and Serology are based on 3 adult sites
(RIE, WGH & SJH).
This is an opportunity to develop your technical and managerial skills within a supportive team environment within Blood Science. Applicants will be considered from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists educated to Masters level (Masters or HSD) with experience in Blood Sciences and related disciplines. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with proven training and management skills. The post holder is responsible for maximising service provision, including enabling the delivery of a safe and effective service, and ensuring that all local and national guidelines and targets are adhered to and met e.g., quality and training, and helping to maintain our ISO 15189 accreditation. It is an exciting time within Blood Sciences as we expand our services as well as look to implement a new LIMS.
Post 1 (SJH): Blood Science at SJH is an expanding service with the recent addition of some specialist chemistry, Microbial Serology and qFIT testing and we are looking for an individual to take on the Team Lead role for these new assays as well as provide support to the existing Team at SJH.
Post 2 (RIE) –Viral Serology and Immunology are rapidly expanding areas housed within the wider Blood Science department at the RIE and we are looking for an individual who has a Blood Science background but with special interest/expertise in Immunology and/or Serology to support these two sections specifically, as well as being part of the wider team at the RIE.
The post is for 37 hours per week and once trained and competent there will be a requirement for out of hours participation (backshifts, weekends and overnight) to ensure a 24/7 service provision for our patients.
