We have an exciting opportunity for Psychology Graduates with a passion for working with people who are experiencing acute difficulties with their mental health. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to contribute to the provision of psychologically informed care for people who have been admitted to the adult acute mental health ward. You will also contribute to the provision of an evidence-based psychology group for people who are supported by the Home Treatment Team.
The Multidisciplinary teams include Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Support Workers, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists and Activities Coordinators, and Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
You will also join a dynamic and creative team of Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist, Art Psychotherapist, and Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, and will be well supported.
Main duties of the job
You will offer 'Introductory Psychology Appointments' for people admitted to the acute adult mental health ward.
Your role will involve conducting assessments and contributing to formulations under supervision of a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, and using therapeutic skills to deliver brief evidence-based psychological interventions, both individual and group interventions.
You will be a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will contribute to providing a psychological perspective for the team. You will need to communicate effectively with the team and other local mental health teams.
You will be well supported within clinical supervision and the wider Inpatient and Urgent Care Psychology Team. There are also opportunities for networking with psychologists and psychological professionals working across the Trust.
There will be opportunities to contribute to teaching for multidisciplinary staff, team formulations, our psychology team CPD (continuing professional development), and service improvement projects.
Our Assistant Psychologists are highly valued and we will support your development.
