Business Development Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our team. You will work from home but must be located in the UK, ideally in close proximity to our Milton Keynes office.
Neoteryx is the microsampling products brand of Trajan Scientific and Medical. We provide simple, scientifically accurate technologies for remote sampling and microsampling. We are aligned with Trajan's vision of creating and enabling science that benefits people and improves their well-being.
The Clinical Diagnostics Business Development Manager is a key member of the microsampling devices commercial team. You will play a crucial role in identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients, and driving revenue growth. You will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to develop strategies that align with our business goals. Responsible for driving business growth and sales for the company in the microsampling device market in Europe by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the clinical diagnostics industry, with a focus on government agencies and leading research organisations.
A summary of key responsibilities includes:
Strategic Planning & Revenue Generation
* Executing strategies and plans to accelerate the adoption of Trajan microsampling devices among key accounts.
* Developing relationships with key opinion leaders, influencers and decision makers to promote the adoption and use of microsampling offerings by aligning with the needs and objectives of the respective organisation.
* Achievement of annual sales targets.
* Supporting revenue growth by acquiring and closing new business opportunities with existing and new customers in focus areas.
* Working with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development and customer services to ensure alignment and execution of business development strategy.
* Working closely with colleagues to manage and negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts.
* Develop and manage local and regional sales, promotions and campaigns.
* Resolving customer complaints about a product or service.
* Identifying emerging markets to find new market opportunities.
* Utilise and update the CRM daily.
Lead Identification & Research
* Conduct in-depth market research to identify high-potential prospects, including hospitals, CROs, Pharma, healthcare systems, distributors, and key decision-makers (e.g., procurement officers, clinicians, C-suite executives).
* Analyse industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory landscapes to pinpoint untapped opportunities in target regions or specialties.
Outreach Strategy Execution
* Initiate proactive outreach via cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, and industry events to introduce the company’s product line and build rapport with prospects.
* Tailor messaging to address the unique pain points of different stakeholders (e.g., clinical benefits for surgeons vs. cost-efficiency for procurement teams).
Field Sales & Market Activities
* Work collaboratively with the marketing team, as appropriate.
* Represent Trajan Scientific and Medical at industry events, conferences and trade shows to promote the company's range of microsampling devices and establish new business relationships.
* Provide regular reports on customer, market and competitive activities to the executive team and other stakeholders to capitalise on new sales or product development opportunities.
* Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions, stages, and forecasts in the CRM (e.g., HubSpot).
* Provide regular updates to leadership on prospecting metrics (e.g., lead volume, conversion rates, revenue potential).
Required Qualifications/Education:
* BSc or MSc in a science-related field; MBA preferred
Experience:
* A minimum of 5 years of business development and sales experience in the life sciences or clinical diagnostics field, with a proven track record of developing relationships with healthcare providers, central clinical laboratories, state health agencies and leading research organisations.
* Experience in the sales process and territory management with regard to the customer buying process.
* Proven ability to develop and execute strategic business plans and a demonstrated ability to exceed established sales objectives.
* Knowledge of microsampling devices, analytical chemistry and/or diagnostics is a plus.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
* Communication, negotiation and social skills, as well as the ability to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry, government agencies and leading research institutions.
* Knowledge of the pharmaceutical development process (especially clinical trials).
* Ability to quickly process and apply medical and/or scientific information to identify and qualify new market and business opportunities.
* Experienced and confident in presenting to a group of professionals.
* Organisational and project management skills and the ability to multi-prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong work ethic and an innovative attitude.
* Flexibility regarding working hours and willingness to work from home.
* Ability to handle rejection and overcome objections on a daily basis.
* Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft and/or HubSpot software (bonus).
