Marketing Officer Location : Alresford (Required to work across the railway) (Occasional WFH) Hours: Permanent Full Time 40 hours per week (with 30 minutes paid break) 5 days over 7. Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum The Watercress Line is a heritage steam railway operated by award-winning volunteers and supported by paid staff, bringing smiles to faces through the beautiful Hampshire countryside for 50 years. It is a not-for-profit organisation funded predominantly from its train operating revenues, and supported by a charity, the Watercress Line Heritage Railway Trust. We are looking to recruit an innovative, enthusiastic Marketing Officer to support in all aspects of our Marketing strategy to enable the railway to deliver the income targets agreed by the company. In this role, you will assist with a wide range of tasks using an effective range of marketing communications. Key responsibilities Creation and delivery of marketing campaigns Support with the planning and delivery of both acquisition and retention campaigns, using a broad range of marketing channels and techniques, both on and offline Website management Support all online marketing activities alongside managing the website content. Assisting with delivery of the eMarketing strategy and managing the website performance. Social Media management Social media management across all platforms, mostly Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube; creating and scheduling content whilst monitoring success and responding to comments, messages and reviews. Monthly social media reporting Customer Service Collating customer feedback and responding to any customer concerns taken directly or via other sources such as Tripadvisor, social media etc. Person Specification You will have knowledge of: Marketing principles and techniques, with good commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of market segmentation Knowledge of website content management systems and eMarketing tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Data Studio, Google AdWords, Looker Studio Mailchimp) Social Media scheduling tools such as Buffer and Later You will have the ability to: Be resourceful and creative, with an ability to solve problems and provide innovative and practical solutions Be confident, personable, and engaging with our visitors Be methodical, with high attention to detail with excellent proof-reading skills Be organised and able to work successfully under pressure, managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines Relevant Experience and requirements: Solid experience working in a marketing-based role Proven experience working and reporting on digital media, particularly social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube) Experience working with ecomms, including preparing and sending E-shots Experience of working with volunteers would be advantageous Other Hold a current driving licence and have your own transport Able to work bank holidays and weekends as required A DBS check may be required Benefits Discounted mainline travel after one year of service Discounts for our railway events, catering and retail Employee Assistance Programme for free personal, legal, emotional and financial support.
