Who are we?
Streetbikes is an ongoing success story. From humble beginnings we now have an ever expanding team of volunteers, staff, and resources so that we have the capacity to truly make a difference to thousands of people, enriching their lives through cycling.
Streetbikes was founded in 2009 by a group of like-minded cycling enthusiasts. They began with a project to recycle bikes with the intention of helping underprivileged people in Kirklees. Bikes were donated and refurbished and sold at low cost or given away. A series of programmes were devised to promote cycling among underprivileged groups. Access to adapted and non-adapted bikes in a safe environment was created. A range of cycling activities and events were organised so as to help improve the health and well-being of the local community, and especially to provide access to cycling activities to underprivileged, underrepresented and hard to reach groups.
What do we need?
We now need an experienced Project Manager who will have full responsibility to manage the charity’s Active Travel Hub WYCAS funded project. This is a newly created role, where the postholder will be able to be autonomous in their role and report directly to the Trustees.
The role will require you to:
1. Integrate with Streetbikes current cycle related services, liaising with third party organisations to develop the walking provision, develop the information and support service at the Hub, and to liaise with other Active Travel Partners as required;
2. Be a positive ambassador for the charity and a role model for staff and volunteers involved in the project, working closely with the Streetbikes Operations Manager, Track Manager, and Mechanics;
3. Ensure that the community has the opportunity to discover more about walking, wheeling, and cycling, and support users to experience health and wellbeing benefits;
4. Take overall responsibility for achieving, monitoring and reporting on performance against targets, ensuring that these are met and taking appropriate action when required;
5. Be accountable to and report regularly to the Trustee with Active Travel portfolio and the Board of Trustees.
The Active Travel Hub Project Manager will be based at the Spenborough Athletics Stadium on a Tuesday and Saturday to deliver the Hub Project. Additional hours may be undertaken on a hybrid working basis as mutually agreed. There is an expectation that some time spent on outreach work in North Kirklees will be required. This is a fixed term contract of 12 months.
