About the Opportunity
Jacobs is currently recruiting for an Equipment Reliability Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services Business. NPETS is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting new small modular reactor developers. Our work is varied, covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector.
This is an exciting role with the opportunity to gain great experience in the Nuclear industry, supporting our clients based at stations or facilities for periods of time. Therefore a willingness to travel and potentially be based away from home during the working week is required. At times, there will also be the facility to work from a Jacobs office or from home dependent on client and project requirements. You will report into the Plant Optimisation and Engineering Manager and work closely with other Reliability, Mechanical and Process engineers in the team.
Candidates will be familiar with the requirements of working in a regulated environment providing ER support and as a Jacobs employee, you will deliver work to high HSSE standards in compliance with HSSE regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare technical reports, reliability reviews and other safety case supporting documentation
2. Work to continuously improve maintenance practices within the customer organisation through knowledge of maintenance optimisation principles and condition monitoring
3. Manipulate complex data sets to bring out rational understandings of how plant is operating effectively and where improvements can be made
4. Justify recommendations brought about by data analysis of maintenance/operational history on particular areas of plant
5. Work on outage methodologies to support improvement recommendations
6. Support the delivery of Equipment Reliability improvements across stations
7. Support the development of proposals and tenders by providing accurate estimates of work
8. Maintain and develop successful working relationships with engineers within client organisations
9. Work in a safe and sustainable manner and strive for continuous improvement in these areas
Here's What You'll Need:
1. Degree qualified engineer (or accomplished engineer through apprentice route with relevant expertise)
2. Ability to work in UK and eligible to gain BPSS and CTC (minimum security clearance)
3. Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques and how this can support a reduction in maintenance (associated qualifications advantageous)
4. Proven history of data analysis which leads to making recommendations of how a system is performing and where improvements can be made
5. Understanding of equipment reliability techniques and how this can bring overall efficiencies to plant
6. Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry (e.g. rail)
7. Knowledge of nuclear plant systems, structures and components and associated design and assessment guidelines a distinct advantage
8. Awareness of AP928 and AP913 Equipment Reliability and Maintenance Optimisation Nuclear Standards
9. Part-time or flexible working will be considered for the right candidate
