Vallum's client is a Tier One contractor within the Solar/BESS space looking to expand the HSE team with an Advisor. The role will involve site visits and remote or office working.
The SHEQ Advisor will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of the company’s Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures across all renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on BESS installations. The role will involve ensuring compliance with industry regulations, promoting a strong safety culture, and contributing to continuous improvement in SHEQ performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems.
2. Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
3. Provide SHEQ training and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors.
4. Support accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
5. Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
6. Monitor environmental and sustainability initiatives to support the company’s green energy commitments.
7. Keep up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
8. Prepare and submit SHEQ reports, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
9. Promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
10. Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure SHEQ considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a SHEQ role within the renewable energy, BESS, or construction industries.
2. In-depth knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
3. Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and accident investigation techniques.
4. Experience with ISO management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001).
5. Excellent communication and training skills.
6. Ability to influence and promote a strong SHEQ culture.
7. Proficiency in report writing and data analysis.
8. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Internal or Lead Auditor certification for ISO standards.
2. First Aid and Fire Safety training.
3. Working knowledge of CDM regulations.
