About the role
This role will see you providing scientific expertise in specialist areas of environmental science, specifically around contaminated land, waste management and water quality. You will provide this information to your team and project managers so that we meet or exceed expectations for both clients and Stantec. In addition to that, at a senior level, you will be identifying relevant business opportunities and new client relations working with the Team Leader and Group Leader.
Day to day tasks would involve:
1. Carry out scientific research and investigations as required in specialist technical areas of environmental science, with a particular emphasis on contaminated land, waste management and water quality.
2. Prepare and review technical reports
3. Assess environmental, health impacts and risks of projects
4. Collect and analyse data and field samples and provide summary information on the data
5. Prepare appropriate submissions to local bodies and act as technical expert at formal Hearings
6. Provide technical guidance, support, and oversight to environmental programs to support project managers
7. Develop and mentor junior staff
8. Liaise with clients ensuring they are kept informed of progress
9. Maintain and develop ongoing contacts with current and prospective clients
10. Promote Stantec’s expertise and capabilities including publishing and presenting of quality technical work
To be successful for this role you'll need:
1. A minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in Environmental Science (a Masters’ Degree is preferred)
2. A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in consulting, government or industry with specialist skills in contaminated land and generalist experience in environmental management and sustainability projects. Water quality experience is also considered beneficial
3. South Island specific experience is advantageous
4. Hydrogeology experience is also considered desirable, though not required
5. Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) accreditation is considered an asset
