Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with challenging behaviours and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work closely with primary-aged children in the Stafford area, offering a supportive and nurturing environment to enhance their educational experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one support to a child or a small group of children with challenging behaviours and SEMH needs.
2. Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and staff alike.
3. Implement behaviour management strategies effectively, in accordance with the school's policy and tailored to individual students' needs.
4. Assist in creating and executing individual education plans (IEPs) alongside the Lead Teacher or SENCO.
5. Facilitate a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
6. Monitor and record students' progress, relaying any concerns or achievements to appropriate staff members.
7. Encourage students' engagement with their peers and participation in class activities.
8. Aid in developing pupils' social skills and helping them build their self-confidence.
9. Collaborate with other professionals, such as educational psychologists or speech and language therapists, as required.
10. Uphold confidentiality relating to issues concerning the school and any pupils or staff.
Qualifications:
1. Experience working with primary-aged children; experience with SEND, particularly those with behavioural challenges or SEMH, is highly desirable.
2. NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Teaching Assistance or a related field is preferred.
3. Training in de-escalation and behaviour management techniques is an asset.
4. A genuine interest in children's education and well-being.
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
6. Resilient and patient with a positive, problem-solving attitude.
Pay starts at £95.29 INDMID.
