Job overview
We are looking to appoint a GP with special interest to provide medical monitoring and management to patients who are under the care of the Eating Disorder Service. You will provide assessment and management of patients who are at risk of or who have developed medical complications of their eating disorder. You will also be involved in assessment and management of comorbidities which impact upon the patient’s eating disorder, including liaison with other professionals.
Main duties of the job
1. Assessment and management of patients who are at high risk of medical complications of their eating disorder or who have already developed complications of their eating disorder.
2. Assessment and management of patients with medical and psychiatric comorbidities which impact upon their eating disorder, for example patients with Type I diabetes. This may include liaison with other specialists.
3. Assessment of patients with an eating disorder who are pregnant, with appropriate liaison with obstetrics, midwifery and perinatal mental health services.
4. Assessment of psychiatric risk and using the Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders guidance to guide clinical decision making.
5. Perform clinical and non-clinical administration tasks that are required for patient care, or to fulfil wider NHS requirements.
6. Supporting the wider MDT to triage patients who have been referred to the service, including reviewing the results of medical investigations arranged by the referrer and advising on the frequency of health checks.
7. Reviewing and actioning the results of medical investigations arranged by the eating disorder service.

* Qualification in the Field of Mental Health
* GMC
* Other Relevant Experience i.e. Psychological therapies
